About Lockhart Elementary
Founded in 1962, Lucian L. Lockhart Elementary proudly serves the students and families of Houston’s historic Third Ward community — a neighborhood known for its deep cultural roots, strong sense of community, and legacy of educational excellence.
Our school is named in honor of Lucian L. Lockhart (1868–1955), a distinguished educator and civic leader who dedicated his life to uplifting youth through learning. He was the father of Ruby Lockhart Thompson, after whom Thompson Elementary is named.
